The maiden edition of Fashion Icons Awards is set to
be launch at the plush Alisa hotel this month. The event promises to be the biggest
night in Ghana’s fashion industry, a unique and glamorous ceremony which was established
to recognize
and celebrate
the present icons and also to reward promising icons in the fashion industry.
The event will help nurture the rich kernels of
talent scattered liberally throughout the fashion industry, and shine a
spotlight on some of its most creative eclectic stakeholders, whose full
potential has been thus far unrealized.
This unique annual award ceremony aims to place a
spotlight on creative individuals who has contributed/invested in the local
fashion industry, creating sustainable economies through building of a rich
resource base and capacity utilization through viable strategic partnerships.

The categories of awards are divided into three
groups; (1) Present Icons (Lifetime Achievement Awards), (2) Promising Icons
Awards (Future Icons) and (3) People’s Choice Awards (Stakeholders Choice).
Below are the categories of people’s choice awards that would be honoured at the launch/industry
night:
Fashion blog of the year
Fashion photographer of the year
Fashion communicator of the year (Online)
Fashion communicator of the year (Print)
Best model management/agency
Fashion Stylist of the year and
Stylish Creative Director
A star-studded line-up is expected at the grand
finale of the event in August with great entertainment and awards presentation.
Achievements will be honoured as we celebrate the very best of African fashion
entrepreneurs.
Nominations for Lifetime
Achievement and Promising Icons Awards
would be announced at the official launch/industry night on February 23, 2014
at Alisa Hotel in Accra.
