TANZANIAN MODEL FLAVIANA MATATA SUES PENSION FUND DEMAMNDING 165 MILLION

A Tanzania beauty queen and fashion model, Flaviana Matata, has sued the Board of Trustees of the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF), demanding 165m/- in damages for breach of contract.
The suit is before Principal Resident Magistrate Magreth Bankinka at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court in Dar es Salaam and has been set for mention on September 22, this year.
Through Law Associates (advocates), Matata states in the plaint that the contract related to use of her pictures to advertise PSPF's respective organization for purposes of attracting customers. Advocate Edward Lisso and Happy Mgala from the law firm claims that such contract was valid for one year only beginning January 2015.
But it is alleged that the PSPF are continuing using Matata's pictures till today against the contract. In the suit, Matata, the plaintiff, demands specific damages of 65m/- from PSPF, the defendant, for breach of the contract entered between the parties in January 2015, which involved fashion modelling services for the Fund.
The plaintiff is also demanding 100m/- as general damages for loss of business opportunities with other pension fund organizations and other business entities as it is perceived that she was still in business with the defendant.
